Avionics Calibrations
PMI technicians collectively bring over 100 years of military metrology experience calibrating leading-edge military MRO equipment. With that expertise and our GIDEP-driven procedure system providing access to both military and civilian avionics procedures, our Avionics Section is well equipped to handle a broad array of test equipment: ramp test sets; Nav/Com (navigation/communications); TACAN; DME; ILS; VOR; IFF; G/S (glideslope); bearing and air data testers; and DoD-used foreign-country support/test equipment.

RF and Electrical Calibrations
PMI uses state-of-the-art calibration standards and procedures to calibrate a broad range of RF and electrical test equipment. Our capabilities span precise time and frequency measurements from DC to 40 GHz, and power levels from 2,000 watts down to -140 dBm. PMI calibrates equipment such as counters, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, megohmmeters (meggers), network analyzers, power meters and sensors, attenuators, and power supplies, among others.

Physical and Dimensional Calibrations
A large portion of PMI’s calibration services comprises physical and dimensional calibration and testing, which is often used in quality control to measure size and distance, temperature and pressure, and to apply force or tension with impressive accuracy and repeatability—down to millionths. Examples of physical and dimensional equipment include calipers, micrometers, thread and plug gauges, gauge blocks, and equipment for measuring light, sound, magnetism, torque, pressure, and vacuum. Most of these services are performed in a highly controlled 68°F room.

Testing Services
PMI performs a wide variety of testing, including safety compliance, load testing, part measurements, temperature testing, and chemical testing. We perform load testing up to 100,000 pounds (lb.) and tension testing up to 50,000 pounds (lb.), and we design and build custom fixtures to meet our customers’ testing needs. Using PMI-designed software, technicians can perform trend analysis, helping customers implement preventive measures before mishaps occur. PMI also provides full-parameter part verification to customer drawings for custom machined fixtures and devices.
