Avionics Calibration Expertise

PMI’s team collectively brings over 200 years of military metrology experience in calibrating leading-edge military and civilian Maintenance, Repair, Overhall (MRO) avionics test equipment. This extensive expertise, combined with our GIDEP-driven procedure system—which provides access to both military and civilian avionics calibration procedures—enables our Avionics Section to support a broad range of specialized test equipment. Our capabilities include calibration of ramp test sets; navigation and communication (Nav/Com) systems; TACAN; DME; ILS; VOR; IFF; glideslope (G/S) systems; bearing and air data testers; as well as foreign-country support and test equipment used by the U.S. Department of Defense. PMI’s experienced personnel and comprehensive procedure resources ensure accurate, reliable calibration services that meet the demanding requirements of military and aviation maintenance operations.

PMI utilizes state-of-the-art calibration standards and procedures to calibrate a wide range of RF and electrical test equipment. Our capabilities include precise time and frequency measurements from DC to 40 GHz and power measurements ranging from 2,000 watts down to −140 dBm.PMI provides calibration services for a broad spectrum of instrumentation, including counters, digital multimeters, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, megohmmeters (meggers), network analyzers, RF power meters and sensors, attenuators, and power supplies, among others.Our advanced equipment and experienced technicians ensure accurate, reliable measurements that support the demanding requirements of modern electronic testing and calibration environments.

A significant portion of PMI’s calibration services focuses on physical and dimensional calibration and testing. These measurements are commonly used in quality control applications to accurately measure size, distance, temperature, and pressure, as well as to apply and verify force or tension with exceptional accuracy and repeatability—often down to millionths of an inch. PMI calibrates a wide range of physical and dimensional equipment, including calipers, micrometers, thread and plug gauges, gauge blocks, and instruments used to measure light, sound, magnetism, torque, pressure, and vacuum. To ensure the highest level of measurement accuracy and consistency, most of these calibrations are performed in a highly controlled environment maintained at 68°F (20°C).

PMI performs a wide variety of testing services, including safety compliance testing, load testing, dimensional part measurements, temperature testing, and chemical testing. Our capabilities include load testing up to 220,000 pounds and tension testing up to 50,000 pounds. To support specialized requirements, PMI designs and builds custom fixtures tailored to meet our customers’ specific testing needs. In addition, our technicians utilize PMI-developed software to perform trend analysis, enabling customers to identify potential issues early and implement preventive measures before problems occur. PMI also provides full-parameter part verification to customer drawings, ensuring that custom machined fixtures and devices meet all specified dimensional and performance requirements.
